Update: There have been a few reports online of BoostSpeed users having trouble uninstalling the new version of BoostSpeed. Because of this (and the fact it was also a poor performer) we do not recommend you install BoostSpeed. We have removed any links to the Auslogics web site until it is determined that the issue has been resolved. We have also updated our uninstall BoostSpeed guide to help any users that are having trouble removing BoostSpeed.
Review by SpeedUpNew
BoostSpeed will optimize your desktop, notebook, or tablet PC. Behind the easy-to-use streamlined interface is simply one of the best looking optimization suites we have ever tested. A high-quality professionally programmed solution, it provides a fair boost to every program installed on your PC and even optimizes your Internet. BoostSpeed costs a little more than most, but it may deserve consideration if you're more interested in looks than real speed improvements. Not one of the better performers.
BoostSpeed is an optimization program with easy to use and automatic settings. Of course, we compared many other superior optimization programs available for less.
BoostSpeed: Quick and Easy Optimization
After you start BoostSpeed for the first time, it will display a message recommending a System scan. Through a range of expertly programmed optimization routines, BoostSpeed will find slow bottleneck points lingering on your computer and rate them for speed loss. We had almost 200 speed-sapping problems with our PC.
While not the easiest to use of all the PC optimizers we tried, BoostSpeed is certainly no slouch, displaying a finely tuned interface. It may be slightly more complicated than most optimizers. If you're a seasoned PC user, you should have no problems whatsoever after you spend some time with the program. If you're a new user, make sure you take heed of the excellent detailed help provided along the way.
BoostSpeed's Optimization Features
SYSTEM SCAN - Simply clicking the Scan Now button will result in a very safe intensive scan that will notify you of the areas where your PC can improve performance. You can also choose, "Scan and Repair", "Scan, Repair and Sleep", or "Scan, Repair and Shutdown" from the sub-menu. We recommend shutting down your PC at least once a week (or even every day) with the latter selection.
Optimize Memory - Despite the amount of RAM in your PC, you will eventually be using your system's much slower page file on your hard disk when using memory-intensive programs such as image editors (ie: PhotoShop) and PC games.
SYSTEM ADVISOR - Checks any other potential optimization areas of concern. You can easily enable and disable each selection. Every element here is clearly detailed. After carefully scanning your PC, the System Advisor can detect useless running services or Windows options that are wasting CPU cycles and draining resources.
RESOURCE USAGE - A very detailed data monitor that shows which programs are using resources on your PC. Very handy to see which program or service is using (or in the case of hidden spyware, stealing) the most CPU cycles from your computer.
ADVANCED TOOLS - While the easy one-click System Scan does a great job of providing massive speed increases, the Advanced Tools section has some essential optimization tools of its' own. And just because it says Advanced, don't be afraid of it. The tools are very easy to use and thoughtfully explained.
Internet Optimizer - Automatically cleans up your Internet settings. While the results will seem miniscule, I imagine it will save you some time over an extended duration.
Defrag & Optimize - An important feature to make use of every time you install or uninstall a program or game on your PC. It will intelligently optimize the data on your hard drive.
Registry Repair & Defrag - There are contrasting opinions online about cleaning the registry. We can tell you from personal experience, most of the negative attitude has been fueled by many of the cheap (or free) junkware registry cleaners and optimizers that contain amateur, ancient, or simply inferior programming code. When you buy a professional solution, such as BoostSpeed, you will get a better registry cleaning module.
Optimize Services - By default, there are just so many un-used Windows services running needlessly in the background that will sap the life out of your PC. Choose one of the presets to optimize your PC for your particular needs including home, office, and gaming specific optimizations.
System Tweaks - As it starts up, you are asked if you want to continue using Beginner mode or switch to Advanced mode - which requires little more computer skill. Either way, just take your time and read the excellent detailed descriptions presented at the bottom of the window as you hover over each system tweak. You'll learn a lot about your PC here and you'll be able to apply that knowledge with just a few clicks.
Rating BoostSpeed VS Other Optimizers
Providing performance increases while maintaining stability is the key area that we focus on when evaluating any PC optimizer. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a high quality optimization program, BoostSpeed doesn't really deliver good results for its' steep price.
Currently we feel it's an over-rated optimization program that has seen better days. It seems to have gotten clunkier over time and has almost had too many changes and tweaks over the years. Yeah, it may look sleeker, but it's not for the better. Plus there's the recent (and ongoing) issues people have had trying to uninstall BoostSpeed from their computer. That makes it a no-go in our minds.
Consider looking over our top pc optimizer categories to find the correct optimizer for your current PC. It's important to choose the right type of optimizer for your particular needs. PC optimizers come in all shapes and sizes and vary differently.
